What Causes Sensitive Red Rash On Scrotum?

In the last 2 days I developed a red rash on my scrotum. It does not itch but is sensitive. For the record, I used desoximetasome on the top of my penis starting 10 days ago but that never touched my scrotum. This was the medicine recommended by my dermatologist on a spot where a mole was removed which the lab said was squamous.

Hi there and thank you for your question.

The redness on the scrotum does sound like an inflammatory response on the skin.

You can use the desoximetasone on the affected area once a day until the sensitivity disappears or for a maximum of 10 days. By the end of the 10 days the rash should've resolved but if it hasn't then it is possible that the issue is due to a fungal infection.

In that case you could use ketoconazole cream which you can get over the counter and apply it twice a day to the scrotum for 7-10 days. Once resolved, you should continue with the medication for another 3 days to make sure all the fungal spores have been killed so that the problem doesn't repeat itself.

If the problem still persists the you should consult with your doctor.

I hope this helps and good luck.
