General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Changes in the colour of your period blood discharge (black, jelly-like discharge) could be due to 2 main reasons:

- infection
- dehydration

I advise drinking plenty of fluids especially water with oral rehydration salts.

Wait for the next periods, if the blood flow and colour are the same.

Then, should discuss it further with your gynaecologist and run vaginal swab testing after your periods are over.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
