What Causes Salty Taste In Mouth Post Recovery From Sickness?

Hi, 3 weeks ago I was very sick, chills, cough, stuffy. When I got over my illness my mouth became very salty. I thought maybe due to holes in my teeth and food particals got stuck and caused a salty taste. I went to the dentist and got a deep cleaning but I still have a salty taste in my mouth. What should I do?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that salty taste in mouth can be due to causes like Dry mouth, Oral and dental infection leading to pus accumulation, post nasal drip etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now you can chew sugar free chewing gum to stimulate saliva flow and improve taste..
You can gargle with flavored antiseptic mouthwash..
Drink plenty of water..
Maintain a good Oral hygiene..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
