What Causes Rise In Blood Pressure?

up to a week ago my husband was donating plasma because he was unemployed and needed the money. He is now employed however when he went last week they turned him away and said his blood pressure was too high. over the last 10 weeks he has done good lost 35 pounds try to get healthier. He is 6 fee 5 inches and weighed 325 now he is 290. He has been doing treadmill average 5 times a week dong 2 miles. when he was 325 his blood pressure was like 130/80. he went to dr today because in a week it is increased to the highest reading was 158/105. the dr prescribed him lisinopril 10 mg. he just turned 39 years old he is 1/2 native American. he has been drinking lots of water, caffeine free diet sodas we read caffeine can affect blood pressure. could the donation of plasma contributed to this as it doesn t make sense he has lost weight and been active daily and blood pressure is up don t understand it. He is only sleeping about 4-6 hours a night having trouble sleeping and staying asleep could this be contributing?

Hi welcome to HCM.
Donating plasma has no relationship with elevation of blood pressure to significant levels. The probable cause in your case seem to be excessive body weight.Difficult and inadequate sleep can also lead to increased blood pressure.Lisinopril can lead to prompt reduction of blood pressure.Restrict the intake of salt to less than 6gm/day.Reduce the intake of coffee and alcohol.Consult your cardiologist for further care.
Thank you
