What Causes Ringing In Ears?

I have ringing in my ears. For the last two weeks, my right ear feels like I have water in there. I did see an ear, nose, throat doctor. He gave me a hearing test. My hearing is very good for my age. He said nothing about wax build up. At that time I did not have the water in the ear thing going on. Wondering if I should just go back to that doctor.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that the symptoms of ringing in ears along with feeling of water can be due to Ear infection leading to fluid accumulation behind the eardrum..
Ringing in ears can also occur due to causes lik Perforated eardrum, excess ear wax accumulation, Eustachian tube dysfunction, Meniere's disease, TMJ disorders, Acoustic Neuroma etc..

I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Audiometry, x Ray MRI can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

In case if there is infection in the ear you can be advised antibiotics, anti inflammatroy painkiller and nasal decongestant sprays..
Antibiotic eardrops can also be advised..
If there is fluid accumulation in the ear and does not resolve with medicines then surgical drainage of fluid is advisable..
In case if ringing does not resolve then you can be advised medicines like Tricyclic Anti-depressant like Amitryptiline, anti anxiety medication like Alprazolam, as well as Multivitamin supplements can be advised.. White noise devices can be advised..
You can also be advised Neuromodulation..
Avoid exposure to very loud sounds and also avoid diving, swimming etc..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
