My husband had a ringing in his ears along vomiting. we went to the ER and they did a ct scan. This is what they told us . the brain is normal structure and density with the exception of a CSF collection anterior to the right temporal lobe. This measures 15 x 20 mm and has the appearance consistent with an arachnoid cyst. There is no significant mass effect on the brain. No mass lesions are seen. We have an appointment with an endrocanoligist this week for a thyroid problem. I need to know what we need to do. He is an active 70 year old.
Sinc E he has symptoms the arachnoid cyst needs to be drained. Open surgery or via the mastoid or USB guided. If it is not confirm ed arachnoid cyst has to be opened surgically or any mass lesion can increase and cause pressure symptoms, coning and even more dangerous life threatening situations at any age
