What Causes Rib Pain After Hysterectomy?

Hello Dr., I had a complete hysterectomy on Sept 26 and have had some very severe rib pain on the right side ever since. I first thought it was gas working it s way out post surgery, but now I realize it is in the same spot and not getting any better. Is it possible for ribs to be broken or fractured during this type of surgery? If so, what can be done about this please?

Hi
Welcome to healhcaremagic
After going through your query I concluded that you may be having probably muscular pain in your right rib area. I think it unlikely to be fractured as I have not heard about fracture after hysterectomy surgery. However you can get yourself examined by x ray to exclude fracture. Ibuprofen is helpful in muscular pain as it reduces pain and swelling. vitamin B and C are helpful in recovery. You can discuss your doctor about it. Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. You can also write to me directly on below link:
