General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Noted that he is using Meloxicam, Clonazepam (SOS), Verapamil and Zolpidem (SOS).

Considering his age of 71, Enlarged prostate can be one reason. All the above-mentioned medicines are known to cause retrograde ejaculation and hence inability to ejaculate.

Retrograde ejaculation means ejaculation into the urinary bladder. This is provided that there is normal erection and there is a normal feeling of ejaculation but the actual ejaculate is not coming out of urethra. Please clarify on these points too.

I would advise the following in such a condition.

- Ultrasonography for genito-urinary system, prostate in particular.
- Blood: routine and PSA (Prostate-specific antigen)
- Per-rectal examination for the prostate.
- An opinion of a Urologist and further investigations and treatment as per the cause found.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
