What Causes Resistance In The Uterine Artery During Pregnancy?

Good morning.

I'm writing from Italy...

I'm pregnant at 17.5 and during the last ultrasound my doc told me that my uterine artery has a resistance: RI 0'83 and PI 2,23. He decided to this exam because my papp a levels were a bit low, though the test resulted negative. Anyway, he told me not to worry as during this period a resistance could be normal, and told me just to take baby aspirin and to have rest on the left side (????).

Do you think is it enough? I'm asking it as i read that lots of women with this problem take eparin.

I am really worry about that.

tnx

Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Low PAPP-A and increased resistance in the uterine artery flow is indicative of increased risk of developing pre eclampsia or gestation hypertension, intrauterine growth restriction later in pregnancy. In such situations, aspirin which increases the blood supply to the fetus, is given prophylactically to prevent this condition. Aspirin is safe to give till 34wweeks of pregnancy.
I would suggest you to follow your doctor's advice and get your blood pressure monitoring done regularly.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
