What Causes Reduced Bleeding And Cramps After Taking Steroids For PCOS?

I have pcos and normally my periods are very heavy and painful with lots of clots. They usually lasted about 5-6 days. After a very high dose of steroids my periods stopped for 5months. Now that they have returned my periods are pretty light with little to no cramps and no clots. They last about 3-4 days. Should I be worried or is this a good thing?

Hi,
There is no evidence that steroids have been used in the treatment of PCOS to this effect. Please mention why you have been prescribed steroids and if you are also suffering from endometriosis because the clinical picture you have described is more in favor of it. Steroids can act as powerful stimulants or suppressants as the situation demands. They are usually used as the final resort in many situations. They act by feedback inhibition on the HPO axis or the hypothalamo-pituitary-ovarian axis also. Hope this helps.
