What Causes Redness In The Ring Finger Along With Pain?

I was chopping many vegetables and didn’t realize how hard I was squeezing my hand holding the knife. When I was done and cleaning up I noticed my ring finger was very red. The next day it had a little purple color and today day 3 it’s very red. It’s not hot and it does hurt a little. What can it be?

Hello,

There can be microabrasion due to the pressure of the knife. Small hemorrhages might have become cyanosed, and it will heal in a few days. You just need to soothe that part with any moisturizing cream and if can put of bandage so that it should not get hurt again and cause you pain. I don't think anything is there to go to a doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
