What Causes Redness In Eye With The Flu?

Been sick with flu or bad cold for a week (woke up with a sore thoat 7 days ago, got worse that day and had chills, fever, body ache that afternoon/evening). Only had fever that first day. Yesterday afternoon I noticed my eyes burning slightly and they were a little red. This morning they were very red, so I wore my glasses instead of contacts. Body aches have diminished mostly, still congested (thick yellow phlegm), sore throat. Just wondering about the red eyes at this point.

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having flu with sire throat associated with redness of eyes.
This indicates infection of the conjunctiva resulting in conjunctivitis with source of infection being flu.
The treatment is by use of antibiotic eye drops along with treatment for flu which includes use of antibiotics, antiinflammatory drugs and decongestants.
Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
