Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Two weeks ago my tongue started hurting after a trip to Vegas. All over. It hurt really bad and my taste buds were red and some swollen and then it seemed okay after about a week... The day before yesterday just the back of my tongue started hurting. I'm now looking and there is a center taste bud and it looks almost purple and small and it hurts when I touch it. The back of my tongue hurts too. Also the front of my trap on my neck hurts... It's not my trap, it's my neck. Like if you were to look right and up and pull your left shoulder down... Right on the front of my neck where my lymph nodes seem to be. I'm freaking out.
As per your complain it seems that soreness of tongue tip with inflamed and swollen taste buds seems to be due to Apthous Stomatitis leading to inflammation of tongue causing Glossitis.. Common causes can be deficiency of iron and vitamin B12, stress, physical trauma to the tongue, allergies, acid reflux etc..
As of now you can start gargling with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve the symptoms. You can also take a multivitamin tablet daily.. You can take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.. Suck ice and do cool water rinses.. Avoid spicy food..
If you do not see any improvement in another one week consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
