What Causes Redness And Swelling In The Face After Taking Oxycodone?

My doctor prescribed Oxycodone IR for pain relief after lower back surgery yesterday. I noticed red cheeks and face swelling. Is this an immediate problem or can I wait until Monday when my doctor will be in? What other symptoms should I be aware of if I wait?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Redness of cheeks and facial swelling post intake of Oxycodone is clearly indicating that you are Allergic to it..

It can be an immediate problem or an emergency if you start getting other symptoms like swelling of tongue, throat tightness and choking etc..
So continuing the medication without consulting a doctor is not a good idea and can cause harmful side effects..

So my suggestion is to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated.
They can advise you alternate painkillers and also give you Oral and Injectable anti allergics to reduce the allergy symptoms..

Hope this helps..

Thanks and regards..
