What Causes Redness And Swelling In The Arm After A Bilateral Lithotripsy?

I had a bilateral lithotripsy 2 days ago after being in the hospital for 2 days with a stone blockage on both sides. Now my arm is red and swollen at my I ve site. I have had a low grade fever, not over 100. Should I just watch it or call my doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is possible that you have thrombophlebitis. Its a minor infection of the IV access site. Just watch it for now. If it persists you could visit your doctor. Presently, you could take paracetamol/acetaminophen for the fever.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
