What Causes Redness And Soreness Inside Belly Button With Skin Peeling?

Red and sore inside of belly button with slight skin peeling. No oozing or discharge and no smell. Have been treating with hydrogen peroxide (even though this burns and is very painful) for last couple of days with no improvement. I do not have a belly button ring. I do not know what this is or what to do.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi

You seem to have developed umbilical infection .
You need to take proper care of the area .
Maintain proper local hygiene .
Wash the affected area with lukewarm saline water .
Apply a topical antibiotic cream twice daily.
Sometimes even oral antibiotics have to be given in such cases.
Avoid application of any other creams or oil over the area.
