What Causes Redness And Peeling Of Skin On Feet?

I have red, peeling ,cracking, flaking skin on the arch under my foot. It has been slowly spreading for about 6 months now. Nothing seems to be helping and so much skin has come off that it is starting to really hurt. What could be the cause and cure for this?

Dermatologist 's  Response
thanks for asking,
you are suffering from lichen planus as per your description. Although lichen planus can present with a variety of lesions, the most common presentation is as a well-defined area of purple-coloured, itchy, flat-topped papules.
Treatments tend to be prolonged, partially effective, First-line treatments include retinoids such as Acitretin and corticosteroids .
emollient and oral antihitaminics are added.
regards
