Hello,

it's hard to say what the problem is without even a picture. Redness and dryness may simply be a dermatitis (eczema). Do you have itching as well? Scabies causes intense itching.

The dermatologist may be able to see characteristic lesions on the hands of an infected individual, so a dermatological consultation is important. Did you come into contact with infected individuals?

Dermatitis, on the other hand, is not contagious and can be caused by too much exposure to soap, contact with an irritating substance, allergic reactions, etc.

So in conclusion, a dermatologist should have a close look at your hands. If you'd like you can upload a picture here, by asking a premium question.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
