Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Red Swollen Legs And Feet Despite Taking Lisinopril And Amlodipine?
My feet are very swollen and hot, my legs are red and hot. I take lisinopril and Amlodipine for high blood pressure. Amlodipine was added just over two weeks ago, this is the first time this has happened. My hands are not swollen. I called my Dr. and left a message but didn t get a return call, is there something I should be doing to help this until I can call tomorrow?
Thank you for your query Would you please clarify a few things for me?
1) Do you have any fever, pain on your legs? 2)are you a diabetic? 3)do you have any open wounds, blisters or in duration (the appearance of an orange peel)?
Redness, heat are usually a sign of infection. I recommend you see your doctor or visit the ER right away. These can spread upward may enter your blood stream which can result in severe complications if not treated with antibiotics.
Do not stop any medication unless you consult your doctor.
In the meantime, stay hydrated, don't hang your legs, keep them at hip level to prevent further swelling.
Hope this helps and you feel better. Please feel free to contact us if you have further questions. Wish you good health
