What Causes Red Spots On The Hand After Drawing Blood?

Hi, I gave blood about 48 hours ago, and I now have a bunch on small red dots around where the needle went in. They are not very itchy (maybe a 1 or 2 out of 10), but I was wondering if it could possibly be a minor allergic reaction to what they used to disinfect that area before removing blood.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
As per your explanation it might be allergic rash or Petechiae Rash. Allergic rash may appear due to disinfectant used during needle insertion.
Petechial rash may occur due to various reasons but in your case if tourniquet is applied close to pricking site then petechial rash may occur due to minor injury to capillaries.
Any kind of rash mentioned above, can disappeare within few days but if it's not disappearing or increasing or itching then you must visit your primary physician.

Thanks & Take Care,
Dr. Suraj D.
