What Causes Red Spots In The Stools?

Hello doc. I ate red peppers yesterday and notice small red spots on the surface of my stool. I made an appointment to get it checked out. My doc did a hbt. Not to long ago. No blood in stool. I'm 35 years old. Can blood survive on the surface of the stool?
