What Causes Red Sores In The Vaginal Area?

For the past several months during my menstrual cycle, I ve been experiencing 1 (but this month 2) red, sores in my vaginal area. I guess I would say they appear closer to my clitoris than anything else. They are extremely sensitive and they hurt when bumped. They almost resemble mouth ulcers. They only appear during my period, and go away a couple days after it s over.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello,

Presence of red vaginal ulcers with pain and tenderness indicates the possibility of sexually transmitted infection provided you are sexually active. In case you are not sexually active it could be mucosal lesions due to dermatological pathology. In my opinion, there is a need to consult a dermatologist or sexologist in your city.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar, Psychiatrist
