What causes red painful lump on the inner thigh?

I have a red swollen area on the inside of my thigh. It is the size of a softball. It is hot to the touch. There is a head in the center, but the head is not white. It started like a pimple, but is sore to the touch. It started spreading. I think it is a spider bite but I am not sure.

Hello and thank you for sharing your concerns with us!

Swollen red and painful lump suggests for an infection. It may have derived form insect bite, from a foreign body, from hair root infection, etc. I suggest that it must be seen by a doctor if any drainage is needed. You also have to take antibiotics to treat the infection.

Take Care!
Best regards!
