What Causes Red Lumps Along With Severe Itching In The Vagina?
I am 61, slim and reasonably fit - I have had discomfort and itching around the vagina for more than 3 months - it seems worse at night. There is no abnormal discharge and no pain during urination. When examining myself to look at sitr of itching I noticed 4 soft pink nodules just inside the back wall of the vagina. I had an episiotomy 30 years ago for my first child which resulted in some scar tissue but I dont remember seeing these pink nodules before. Thanks

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to bartholinitis. A vaginal examination by gynecologist and swab will be helpful to rule out the condition. Hot fomentation will give some relief. But if infection is there then antibiotics will be required. For such case i usually advise vaginal suppositories with combination of clindamycin and clotrimazole. Using intimate wash regularly will be helpful in normalizing vaginal bacterial flora and PH and there by prevent getting further infections. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
