What Causes Red Inflamed Lump Around The Nipple?

I am 43 year old female , I went to the doctors last week with a lump around my nipple which is bright red and burning the doctor said it s mastitis but I haven t breast feed for 9 years and no temperature or anything like that I was given a 7 day course of antibiotics which I am now on day 5 and it hasnt cleared at all what else could it be

I understand your concern.
Red inflamed lump on the breast around nipple what you are having could be a deeper infection like breast abscess, like superficial skin infection extending to breast tissue. That could be the reason why it is not subsiding despite taking antibiotics.
Hence, you need to get rid of it by incision and drainage surgically. Kindly consult Surgeon in this regard for appropriate assessment and management.
