What Causes Red Circular Spots On Back, Arms And Torso?

my grandson has red circular 'rash-like' spots that started like a "Christmas tree" shape on his back. he now has the same spots on his arms and torso. We have been waiting to see a pediatric dermatologist....but it is driving him (and us ) crazy. What can this be????

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This may be pityriasis rosea. It has a christmas tree appearance and can be very itchy.

It is a self limiting condition that lasts approximately 2 to 6 weeks. Rarely the rash can lasts months.

The exact cause is not known.

Treatment is mainly supportive, this means treating the symptoms as they occur.
A topical steroid and oral anti histamine can be used for the itching. Calamine lotion may also help to reduce this symptom.

I hope this helps
