What Causes Red Bumps Around Knee?

About 5 days ago I noticed 2 red bumps with white heads on them. Today I noticed they have spread. Still in the same area around my knee. I took benadryl about an 30 mins ago...I m thinking Folliculitis but not sure. Any home remedy s I can do? I do workout everyday in shorts at 24 hour fitness. Could that be where I picked this up?

Hi,

You are right. Most probably you may be having folliculitis. Initially there may be erythematous papular eruptions followed by yellowish pustular lesions. Then the lesion might ruptures and scab may be formed. The cause may be bacteria...staphylococci. You may be having poor immunity. You consult dermatologist and have firm diagnosis and perfect treatment. Blood tests may be done to rule out DM,HIV,anaemia or othe immunocompromised condition.

I suggest as follow....

- antibiotic like cefixime 200 mg twice a day for a week
- anti inflammatory drug like nimesulide 200 mg twice a day
- application of antibiotic like Fucidic acid cream
- cleansing the area with antiseptic liq like dettol

I think above suggestions might be helpful to you.

Thanks.
