What Causes Red Bump On Feet And Hands And Green Stools?

My 5 year developed small, red bumps on the bottom of his feet. The day before I took him to the doctor he broke out on the top of his feet, hands, elbows and knees. The bumps are mild and he says they do not itch. He will be seeing a dermatologist next week. He was on antibiotics for several weeks prior to this rash; twice for strep and then for a tick bite. My husband and I have been noticing his stool is a bright green as well. He is not a big vegetable eater. Is there any connection with the antibiotics, stool, and rash? Could he have killed all the good bacteria in his body?

Hi...I feel by what you quote he should be having a - Hand Foot Mouth disease. This is one viral illness among all other exanthemas which can cause fever followed by rash over palms and soles. It is a self-limiting disorder and itching can be really worrisome. I suggest you use any over the counter antihistamine if you have one with you now. You can use Hydroxyzine at 1-2mg/kg/dose (Maximum 10mg) every 6th to 8th hourly for 7 days.
This can even cause some peeling of skin in the next 4-6 weeks and do not worry about it.
but as you say antibiotics were not indicated in this condition as it is viral illness. Antibiotics could have been the reason for this antibiotic associated diarrhea. I suggest you use probiotic with Saccharomyces boulaardii in it like Econorm or G-Norm.
THE RASH IS NOT RELATED TO ANTIBIOTIC - IT IS RELATED TO VIRAL ILLNESS.
