I was sitting on my couch when I felt my leg sting. I thought that it was nothing but then the stinging got worse. I got up and checked my couch for a bug/insect but I didn t find anything. I looked at my leg and saw that there was a big red (kind of red and blotchy) area. I couldn t find anything in my leg though (like a stinger). So I used a flashlight and a magnifier glass and I still can t see anything, but when I lightly swipe over the red area with my hand I can feel a small part of my leg stinging.. Am I going crazy or do you think I was stung by something, if so what do I do?
Hi. As per your case history you are having papular urticaria. My treatment advice is - 1. Wear full sleeve clothes to avoid further such episodes. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on affected skin. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
