Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Recurring Stabbing Pain In Left Abdomen Post Ulcer Repair Surgery?
I had ulcer repair surgery in 12/2013 and 4/2015 for bloated and collapsed small intestine. I have been having off and on severe stabbing pains again on my left abdomen side where the pain started a few years ago and not able to hold food down again. To relief the stabbing pain I have to force myself to throw up any food eaten. Gastric Roux-y Patient from 2006.
Pain may be due to recurrence of ulcer or dumping syndrome or food intolerence or infection etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.
Get it done ultrasound abdomen. Use tablet pantoprazole before breakfast for one week. If symptoms not improved please consult your gastroenterologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
