Hello,
Thank you for your query

Would you please clarify a few things for me?
1)did you have a fever, sputum, sneezing, running nose, cough with the sore throat?

2)were your tonsils inflamed, swollen or have any follicles on them? (based on the clinical exam)

3)do you any history of gastritis or associated symptoms like heart burn, pain/discomfort over the stomach?

4)do you smoke, have too much alcohol? Are you overweight.

5)any medical problems? Current or past? Including allergies. Are you on any medications?

Based on your query, I would clinically examine your throat & get a history (above questions)

I believe that your throat pain could be linked to gastritis (as you mentioned only pain & soreness and that it did not get cured with antibiotics)

Gastritis is caused by the increased uncountered acid in the stomach. This is usually released when you eat (to aid in digestion).
Stress, illness, long gap between meals, dehydration, medications like antibiotics and certain types of food irritate increase these levels and cause inflammation & erosion in your stomach lining.
This can be worsened by reflux (when the acid enters your esophageal cavity) and can irritate your throat as well.

Proton pump inhibitors inhibitors like pantoprazole and lifestyle modifications are the mainstay of treatment

Recommendations:
- proper Hydration to dilute acid
- avoid caffeine on an empty stomach (initially avoid completely till symptoms resolve)
-avoid too hot or too cold foods
-avoid spicy, bitter, oily foods (can worsen irritation)
-have more frequent but smaller meals
-do not lie down for 2 hours after meals
- raise your head a little while you sleep for few days till symptoms disappear.

Hope this helps.
Please get back to us if you need further clarification.
Wish you good health.
