Recurring smell of ammonia in nose seems mainly due to the fact that your body start utilizing your proteins instead of carbohydrates which is giving ammonia as end product of metabolism. It could be due to Phantosmia, sinus infection and underlying renal and liver disease. Take diet less in proteins and rich in carbohydrates. Avoid taking pulses, eggs, meat. Drink plenty of water. Take diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables to allow body to detoxify. Maintain personal hygiene. If still the smell doesn't subside consult doctor to rule out conditions causing ammonia smell like diabetes, fever, UTI (urinary tract infection) and start treatment as per diagnosis.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
