What Causes Recurring Scrotum And Anus Area Itching With Eczema?

Hi Dr, I had unprotected sex 3 yrs ago in 2011. Around a year later 2012 I start to have an itch on my penis foreskin, the itch was quite bad then after some scratching it will swell (becomes puffy) and crack with some yellowish liquid coming out and it sticks to my underwear. I didnt have any fevers or any other symptoms. Currently, it seems like its recurring and I also have some itch on my scrotum and anus area and the usual eczema places (Back of knee cap, hands, feet). The itchy areas on my scrotum and anus have no bumps... its just itch. I have Eczema 10 years ago and I still have it. Currently, I still have multiple itchy events throughout the year and I ve been applying Betasone Cream on the areas and it will usually subside very quickly in a few hours after I apply the cream. Kindly advice pls. Thank you.

Thank you for your question!
The itch that you prescribe around scrotum and anus area may have a lot of causes such as psoriasis and eczema(which is probably your case), thrush and fungal infections, sexually transmitted infections and some bacterial infections. Therefore i would consider you do an examination for fungi and bacteria,as they can overlap in an eczema prone area.
i would suggest you bathe the affected area twice daily with warm, not hot water, and use a gentle, non- allergic, mild product with glycerine to clean this area, and don`t let this area get too hot and sweaty. Wear only soft cotton underwear, and wash them with hypoallergenic laundry soap.
Moisture carefully to avoid irritation, you can use aloe vera gel every day, twice a day for two weeks and than once a day depending on your condition. I recommend also you drink a lot of water and avoid stress because it can be a trigger.
I usually prescribe hydrocortisone cream 0.1% for anal and scrotal eczema (after excluding other skin conditions such as sexually transmitted infections or fungal and bacterial infections), locally for 2 weeks and moisturiser, and when the itch is severe also an antihistamine agent for 5 days at bedtime, than follow up and continue with maintenance treatment.
I hope this helps.
Feel free to ask me again.
