Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that Pilonidal cyst or Pilonidal Abscess can occur due to causes like:

-Traumatic injury to tailbone area.
-Ingrown hairs.
-Infection in the area etc..

As you have recurring episodes of painful cysts as you say that they occur monthly, you should consult a Proctologist or a General Surgeon and get evaluated and a clinical examination is generally sufficient and if required x ray can also be advised..

In case of Pilonidal abscess you can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and cool compresses over the area..

You can also be advised Incision and Drainage in case of abscess and Marsupialization or Enucleation in case of Cyst for a permanent resolution..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
