What Causes Recurring Headaches Post Treatment For Migraines And Sinusitis?

My husband is 31 and he has been having severe headaches now for almost 2 months. We went to the family Dr and they diagnosed him with Migraines, gave him a script and sent him home. The med didn t work and we ended up in the ER, diagnosed with chronic sinusitus. They gave him a shot in the ER to relieve pain and it was the only thing that seemed to bring any relief. They sent him home with an antibiotic. Symptoms calmed down for about 1 week with nasal spray. But headaches are back full swing and he gets flu like symptoms every night. His headaches last all day and even when he first wakes up. It is beginning to be very hard for him to go to work. They are sending him to an allergy specialist but something tells me it isn t allergies. Any idea what could potentially be the case and what causes these symptoms to be ongoing and no relief.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi something that he is allergic to might be causing these recurrent headaches. It would be worthwhile to visit the specialist to know if he is allergic to anything in particular.

On the other hand I would like to know if any investigations were done like an x ray or a CT scan of the face \ brain to rule out chronic sinusitis or any other causes of headache? If investigations were done and they turned out normal meeting an allergy specialist is good.

There is also an entity called Tension headaches for which no organic cause can be found. The treatment for that would vary from standard treatment for migraine. I hope this information was not too overwhelming and you found it useful. I wish your husband good health :).
