What Causes Recurring Abscess On Buttocks And Thighs?

Hi
I have been getting skin abscesses/boils for the past 5 months (6 of them). On the buttock and thighs. I did not see a doctor for the first 4, they would just drain out and go away on their own. The 5th one became a wound and had to see a doctor - that's when I had to take antibiotics and get dressing done. The doctor also did a diabetes screening for me then. Now I am dealing with the 6th one and taking antibiotis prescribed by the doctor.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of recurring abscess on buttocks and thighs which are red and swollen which seems to be due to inflammation of hair follicles leading to folliculitis which is a bacterial infection. It could be due to clogging of skin pores by dead bacteria and sebum. Need not to worry. Apply topical antibacterial ointment such as Mucopiorin 2%. I would suggest you to start with application of betnovate two to three times a day. You should wash maintain proper hygiene and dryness of area. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined. Start treatment after proper examination. You can go for proper antibiotic course.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
