What Causes Recurrent Yeast Infections Before My Periods?

I ve been on birth control (tri cyclon lo) for 6 months now, and since my third month I ve been having what seems to be reaccurent yeast infections, always beginning the week before I start my period. I have seen the doctor about this and he gave me a 6 month prescription for diflucan and said this should eventually go away. I have been sexually active since October 2013 we do not use condoms but him being my first and only partner & vice versa I do not believe a std could be the culprit. However after my since my last period & last yeast infection I ve been having an on & off sting or burn down there. It only lasts a second and then it s gone again, it doesn t affect my every day life but I d rather that not happen. This has been happening for about two weeks now. I thought there could still be yeast present since I didn t take the diflucan until about 5 days into the infection so I took a store bought pill a couple of days ago, but so far it doesn t seem to has helped. I also notice when I pee I get a white creamy thick discharge, so thick it normally just hangs from my vagina after I pee. I also normally have a lot of constant discharge so I wear panty liners every day, however this has been the norm for me, but I feel as if it s not normal for others I wanted to give as much information as possible so I can get a reasonable answer, as I was planning on seeing the doctor today but they are closed.

Hi

Since the yeast infection is chronically present, the cause should be identified which can be one of the following

Antibiotics, which decrease the amount of Lactobacillus (“good bacteria”) ,uncontrolled diabetes, weak immune system, poor eating habits, including a lot of sugary foods, hormonal imbalance near your menstrual cycle, stress and lack of sleep.

The cause must be treated.Continue antifungal tablets Local application of antifungal creams can also be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
