What Causes Recurrent Rolling Back Of The Eyes In A Child?

My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter has had several episodes of her eyes rolling back in her head. Today when it occurred, her eyes rolled back and she went right on talking, without any evidence that she realized it and her speech did not change at all. She also cross ed her eyes briefly.

Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

Probable diagnosis: Absence seizure
All the symptoms you have mentioned suggestive of a clinical condition called absence seizure.
It need to be evaluated thoroughly to rule out some seizure syndrome.
I suggest you to consult a pediatric neurologist and investigations like EEG(electro encephalogram) may be needed to make a diagnosis.Rarely a CT scan may be needed to rule out any organic lesions.
She might need long term antiepileptic drugs like valpraoate once the diagnosis is made.
Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you good health .

Regards
Dr Shinas
