What Causes Recurrent Nightmares?

I frequently have dreams about me and/or my family being in danger. I usually remember a short period at the end of the dream with me violently kicking or swinging my arms in defense of myself, my family or my property. I wake from the dream when my wife yells at me to stop or I kick myself out of bed.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I understand your concern. Nightmares like this are usually a sign of stress and anxiety. You are probably going through a stressful situation and this comes out of your unconscious mind during sleep.
Finding a resolution to the current troubling matter should also bring a stop to the recurring nightmares too.
I hope this helps.
Wishing you all the best.
