What Causes Recurrent Cold And Cough In A Child?

Hello, My child is 4 yrs and 3 months old. He keeps getting cold n cough every 15 days. When we take him to the doctor, he s fine after 5 days of medication. Again, after a week, he starts having cold n cough. Medication that doctor prescribe - 1) Duolin n Budecort for inhalation (commonly used whenever he has difficulty breathing due to cold) 2) Wikoryl DS 3) Grilinctus BM 4) Cledomox 457 5) Meftal P (SOS for fever) My queries - 1) Will prolonged use of allopathic medicines affect the kid in the long run? 2) I want to improve his immunity naturally. What is the best way to do it? Thanks. Regards, Deepa

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query . I understand your concern.
The recurrent symptoms you child has can be attributed to allergy . He needs assessment of allergens ( the substance causing allergy ) & management to avoid exposure to them.
* Allergens could be detected by -
- Observation for possible triggering factor that came in contact ( dust, fumes, smoke, talcum powder, scent/ certain edibles( mostly of protein group), certain vegetable, fruit / clothes used etc )
- It can be identified by allergy screening test.
* Prevention- It's by preventing exposure to allergen,
- Desensitization treatment.
- by using Histamine blockers
You need to consult a chest physician( pediatrician ) for this.
* Use of vitamins A, C, D for building resistance as per treating doctor's advise .
Thanks
