What Causes Recurrent UTI?

Hey there! I m very prone to getting uti I m very healthy hardly drink alcohol and I drink water religiously! I m just wondering if you could help me with ways to stop getting UTIS after intervourse I always empty my bladder before and after but some how they still occur, I m currently also on the ceezeet contraception pill and wondering if that could be a cause to the problem! Thanks so much for your help :)

Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
Recurrant uti can be due to-
1. Repeated exposure to infection by unprotected sex with an infected person/from contamination with penis touching anus.
You are taking care by voiding bladder completely before &after sex.. but cleaning of genital area (pubis)from front to back is necessary to avoid the infection .
2.The bactria causing uti.. can live in some part of urinary passage/ complicated kidney tissue & reinfect when favorable conditions arrive.
Culture &sensitivity test of urine followed by a sufficiently long course of antibiotic to completely abolish the infection... followed by repeat courses of medicine to prevent recurrance can find answer .pl. consult a Nephrologist for exper guidance.
3. Ceezeete is a progesterone only contraceptive ... there are evidences that the hormone can favor recurrance .
To avoid it you can change contraceptive to 2 hormone pill. (Estrogen is known to avoid infection)
