What Causes Rectal Bleeding When Diagnosed With Colitis?

I experienced rectal bleeding in August and was hospitalized and again this week. The hospital diagnosed colitis but I'm doubting that. I am taking very strong antibiotics for 10 days in both cases. I experienced at the same time vomiting, painful lower abdomen, cold sweats.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
Rectal bleeding could be due to coilitis/inflammatory bowel disease, proctitis, piles, polyp.
I would suggest to consult gastroenterologist undergo clinical examination, fecal calprotectin test, routine blood tests like CBC, EST, LFT, KFT, USG
scan, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy with tissue biopsy if needed.
Specific treatment depend on cause.
Following drugs will help you for colitis due to inflammatory bowel disease:
For short term management: entofoam enema
For long term management: mesocol suppository
Capsule lacrobacillus
For pain: meftal saps
Drink plenty of lukewarm water
Avoid excessive spicy/oily/fatty food, high fiber, smoking, alcohol.
Hope this may help you
