What Causes Rashes, Fever And Foul Smelling Stool To A Down Syndrome Child?

Hi doc, I have a 2 1/2 year daughter with down syndrome. This last 5-6 days she has been having rashes in body, both front and back .She had fewer before she got those rashes. Today she got back her fever ( 38.7C) and I noticed that she had a yellow green foul smelling stool. What can be the cause of it? Thanks in Avance. Yours sincerely, Worried mum

Hi...by what you quote I feel that your daughter is going through a viral illness. Fever with Rash followed by diarrhoea is usually suggestive of a viral infection. Regarding Rash you need not worry unless the kid is very sick. If the kid is playing around you need not worry. Regarding diarrhea unless the kid is having blood in the motion or low urine output are abdominal distension or green bilious vomiting you need not worry.

I suggest you use zinc supplements and ORS to prevent dehydration.
