What Causes Rapid Heart Rate During Pregnancy?

Hello, I am a 27 year old, pregnant with my 3rd child. I am 25 weeks pregnant and today my heart rate is near a hundred beats per minute after being normal up until now. I have been laying down and resting and it will not come down. I feel drained and tired. I've eaten a bowl of cereal for breakfast and tacos for lunch. Should I go to an emergency room or is this normal? Is there anything I can do at home to help bring it down?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms could be related to low blood pressure.

Anyway, as this is an unusual situation for you, I recommend going to the ER for a physical exam, a resting ECG and an abdominal ultrasound.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
