What Causes Rapid Heart Rate Along With Shortness Of Breath?

Hello, I keep getting rapid heart acceleration and short of breath as well as pain in my ribs and left shoulder. I have a history of heart problems in my family and am worried as they are hereditary. My parents say as I m only 16 there is no chance it s serious but it s extremly painful and I have to stop what I m doing to clutch my chest and ribs until it s over. It happens randy both sitting and standing.

Hi

Thanks for posting your query.

NO your symptoms definitely suggest of a Heart Problem and ignoring is not a good idea.

There are different kind of heart problem and each happens at a different age . There are certain diseases which we call as Congenital heart disease which can occur from birth itself. So your parent's are wrong .

My advise to you is get yourself examined by the doctor and get the tests like EKG and 2D Echo which will tell about your Cardiac condition. Till then don't do any exertional activities.

Hope this helps.
Any clarifications feel free to ask .

Regards.
