What Causes Random Bald Spot On Scalp?

Hi, so a year ago I noticed I had a random bald spot on my scalp. It lasted for about 6 months and then started to grow back. Now in the same exact spot I have that same bald spot. It happened fast because I always check my hair for dandruff so I would have noticed it. Is this normal?

My Dear

Welcome to Healthcaremagic!

I have noted your complaints and concerns and have arrived at the following plan of action:

1 You are having Alopecia Areata which is a patchy hair loss from random areas of scalp. It is caused by n inborn error of our body's defense mechanisms which sometimes resolves of its own as well

2 Most of my patients recover fast with following plan.
First I will give Folica like irritants and wait for few weeks, 2-3, to see the results. If that helps, then only continuation of the same will be needed. If that doesn't help then I give topical intralesional steroids which invariably prove consistently good.

3 In some patients I have to give topical application of Mometasone like steroids without injection especially if they are unable to attend my office due to any reason. The results with the latter are somewhat less satisfying but few patients do benefit from this line of action.

I hope you will take an appropriate decision suited to your circumstances and benefit from the suggestions

Best of everything to you.
