What Causes Purple Discoloration On The Middle Finger?

My grandmother s middle finger turned purple/blue after pricking it twice with a diabetic needle to check for blood sugar levels. She didn t realize that she had done it twice on the same finger and it does not hurt. Is it something serious? Can you please tell me what the problem is? Thank you.

Hello,

In this case, the blue purple discoloration is just due to blood clot, which is absolutely normal phenomenon after any type of injury to the tissue. Don't worry, just apply ice the clot will disappear.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nisha Agrawal
