What Causes Purple Discoloration On Lips?

My 13 month old daughter has been randomly vomiting the last 3 weeks. The first two weeks it was just once per week. We were actually in the car when this happened both times, ( so it wasn t directly after she ate.) The 3rd week, this last friday she also vomited while in the car after picking her up from daycare. She then vomited on Sunday morning after she had been up for about 30 minutes and then again this morning right when she woke up at Daycare. She has not fever and seems to play fine afterwards. She did have a cold and cough over Thanksgiving for about 8 or 9 days but is really over it. She does have an ocassional cough from time to time. The one other thing I have noticed this month, just a couple of times is that when I get her from her crib it looks like to me her lips have a purple color to them, but I have only noticed this a couple times and actually have not seen it for a while. She is cranky from time to time, but not all the time and not all day.....

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to Hcm,
Purplish discoloration is not a common thing seen in this age group. However if you have noticed only couple times and then its normal most times I would say nothing to be concerned as of now as she is otherwise well.
Her other symptoms you mentioned are usually seen with children who are sent to day care and these things resolve in due course of time.
I would suggest you to keep a watch on this discoloration especially when child is crying or any physical stress, in such case a complete evaluation especially cardiac evaluation is warranted . hope that clears your doubt. Take care.
