Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 58 year old woman. I woke up this morning with a pulsing pain on the left side of the neck. No other symptom so far. It disappeared when I took aspirin 75 mg. On and off I get some disturbing pain from left side of chest (side of left ribs) and same time a dull pain in the same side of the neck, forehead and side of the head. No other symptom or discomfort during the pain. It appears randomly on some days. This has been happening for last 2 to 3 years, but frequency is slightly increasing in the last one to 2 months. Thanks
As per my clinical experience, the age of 58 years may be predisposing factor for atherosclerosis of the underlying coronary as well as other vascular structures. Pulsating pain over left side of the neck may be indicative of aortic stenosis or other issues responsible for development over a course of time period.
In my clinic, I do recommend a screening Doppler of the neck with particular emphasis on the carotid patency and narrowing if any with brui or Doppler abnormalities.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
