What causes prolonged low grade fever?

I aged 48 has been running fever for last 13 days. Fever ranges from 99 - 100.5. The blood count is normal and typhoid test is negative, after two days ( blood culture test is in process). Fever goes down with Paracetamol 650 and resurface once effect goes off. Initial the dose was for 5 days( Cefixime) then Doctor suggested on Cepodem 200mg (4th day running) . Has normal appetite and no aches or tiredness. Somehow fever is not going down, no irritation in urine and urine test is OK. No malaria, ECR is 13, What could it possibly be?

Hello,

Based on your history I suggest doing some other tests like Protein C reactive, fibrinogen, FT3, FT4 and TSH to exclude as well a thyroiditis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
